Do The Right Thing (1): Think It Right

Updated: Oct 26, 2021

There is no amount of resources invested in doing things right that can make up for doing the right thing. No matter how much it has cost you, if you find out you have been doing the wrong thing, stop and take your time to think.

Doing the right thing begins with thinking right. The in-depth of your foundation determines the later height of your house. To do it right, think right!

Think
Think Right

There is no amount of resources invested in doing things right that can make up for doing the right thing. No matter the amount of resources you have invested in a wrong thing, the only way out of the wilderness of pain and frustration is to choose to do the right thing.

For as he thinketh in his heart, so is he. Proverbs 23:7

How often simple obedience can save us from problems that great sacrifice can not resolve.

The first practical step to success is simply to think and plan well from the onset.

Great results as a matter of necessity demand great planning and great planning is impossible without great thought. The bottom line is, Your thought can make and unmake you. “As he thinks in his mind, so is he"!

You are a product of your thought.

The important question is, "how are you thinking?“

Sometimes, you don‘t need to discuss with a person for more than five minutes before you know the state of the mindset and the type of materials he or she reads. Since your mindset determines what you do and who you become, it is very important to pay good attention to what you read. No wonder billions of dollars are invested in advertisements in every buoyant country. Owners of various products and services know that if they can get hold of your thought, they can affect your attitude in a favourable manner towards their products and services. There is always a battle for your heart everywhere you go. The newspapers target it, the manufacturers want to affect it, your family daily appeal to it. You need to be aware of this situation and take the situation of your heart very serious. Your thought has great impact in the way things turn out for you in life.

The point I am making here is that you are the major architect of your life. Taking the responsibility for what happens to you in life begins with taking responsibility for the source of all your actions; your thought!

1. Check your heart

Which type of personality is your mindsets making out of you? A common saying has it that every man has two wolves inside him; the good and the bad. The one that you feed most prevails. The heart of the matter is that your heart matters. Your heart is your spiritual earth. In the natural, the fertility of a soil is a major determinant of how productive the earth is. In the same way, how productive your spiritual harvest will be will be determined by the fertility of your heart. Your faith can only yield great fruits if your heart is fertile. The man Job in the Bible was a product of his bad thoughts ( Job 3:25-26.) You cannot talk right until you think right.

2. Feed your heart

The fertility of your heart itself depends on how rich you feed it with seasoned word of God. Your heart needs to be made fertile for your spiritual seed to germinate. The essence of the Christian walk is to build your faith up in the Lord to the level that you do not doubt His words or instructions. Without faith it is impossible to please God (Heb. 11:6.) It is your responsibility to study your Bible, buy preachers’ messages and Christian books, patronise faith seminars and conventions and other available aids to help you build up your spiritual muscles through adequate spiritual nourishment and regular exercise.

3. Protect Your Heart

The Bible admonishes us to keep our hearts with all diligence for out of it comes the issues of life (Prov. 4: 18-27). In essence we should keep boundaries on our desires. We should not meditate evil. We should always stay focus on what is righteous and leads to way of life. Permit no destructive gossip or rumour to be dumped in your heart. You are not a rumour garbage can. Permit no one to speak unbelief into your life. Amass around you faith talkers who will stretch you to grow stronger and firmer in the Lord.

Consciously sow only what you want to reap!

Apostle Paul gave us a powerful clue on how to get only what we deeply desire.

Think only about the things that are true, honest, just, pure, lovely, praiseworthy and of good report (Phil 4:8.)

The more you think of these things the more of them you attract into your life.

The principle here is, "what you think of is what becomes of you.“

Who do you see yourself becoming in life?

Your journey there begins with a thought.

Don‘t just think, think right!
